| Governor interacts with students | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, JULY 04– - A group of 28 children from remote areas of Pattan in Baramulla district, back from their visits to various places of historical and cultural importance in the country, met the Governor, N.N. Vohra, here last evening, along with one of their teachers and the Army officers who had been with them on the tour. The students, in the age group of 12 to 20 years, have met and interacted with various prominent personalities during their 11 day long tour to Delhi and Mumbai, which was organized by the Army’s 29 Rashtriya Rifles. The tour, flagged-off from Haiderbeg, Baramulla, on 23rd June, concluded today. In New Delhi, the visiting children called on the President of India, Pratibha Patil and interacted with her. In Mumbai, they met the Maharashtra Governor, S.C. Jamir. They also met the Bolywood actor, Govinda, with whom they had an one-to-one interaction. The children also visited the studios of Doordarshan Kendra, Mumbai, where they were explained about its functioning. Interacting with the children, the Governor enquired from them the places they had visited and the experiences they had gained during the tour. The touring students described their tour as a defining moment, which had left an indelible impression on their minds. They said that it was a life time opportunity for them to have had the rich experience of visiting various historical places in the country and seeing for themselves its glorious composite heritage and secular ethos. For many of the students, it was their first visit to any place outside Jammu and Kashmir. They thanked the Army for organizing the visit. The Governor presented gifts to the students and wished them high success in their future academic careers and in their lives ahead.
