| Corruption charges framed against insurance company manager | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, JULY-06 (JNF):- Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu Mr. BL Bhat framed corruption charges against Rakesh Kumar Chopra then AAO and Assistant Manager Oriental Insurance Company for cheating company by opening accounts in the banks on fictitious name of agent.
In the order it has been mentioned that while accused Rakesh Kumar Chopra then Development Officer with effect from December 30, 1987 to March 30, 2001 of Oriental Insurance Company Branch Officer Gangyal and thereafter AAO from April 2001 to August 2005 in the Gandhi Nagar Officer of the company. During that period accused Rajesh Kumar Chopra opened fictitious bank accounts in the name of SK Malhotra at J&K Bank Ltd Gangyal and SBI Gandhi Nagar Jammu impersonating himself as SK Malhotra and also forged the signature of SK Malhotra in the accounts. It is further mentioned in the charge-sheet that accused Chopra in connivance with Assistant Manager Rajesh Gupta managed to open bank account in the name of SK Malhotra at SBI Gandhi Nagar Jammu and affixed his own photograph on the account form impersonating himself as SK Malhotra. It is further mentioned in the charge-sheet that Mr. Rajesh allegedly fraudulently and dishonestly received some of the commission cheque from the cashier of OIC on the pretext of delivering the same to SK Malhotra and deposited the same in the fictitious account of SK Malhotra.
According to SPP SK Bhat the accused hatched the criminal conspiracy to withdraw 11, 69, 045.08 from the said two fictitious accounts operated in the name of SK Malhotra where in the agency commission cheque issued by the OIC and wrongfully gain to there selves. Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu Mr. BL Bhat after hearing SPP SK Bhat appearing for the CBI framed charges u/s 120-B r/w section 419, 420, 467, 468, 471 RPC r/w section 5(2), 5(1) (d) of J&K PC Act 2006.
