| Khajuria says congress silence endorses PDP, NC demands | | BJP launches membership drive | | Early Times Report
Jammu July 6 : To mark the birth anniversary of Dr. Shyama Parsad Mookherjee, the proponent of one nation theory, state Bhartiya Janta Party launched its membership drive here today. Congress had failed to counter demands from NC- PDP including self rule and autonomy but indirectly endorses such demands following an appeasement policy, said state BJP president here today.
BJP State President Ashok Khajuria, alongwith Member National Executive & former State President Dr. Nirmal Singh, State General Secretaries Ajay Jamwal and Shamsher Singh Manhas, Treasurer Sat Sharma and Membership Incharge Parmodh Kapahi, launched this membership drive in presence of senior leaders, MLAs, District Presidents, Mahila and Yuva Morcha activists at Jammu.
Speaking on the occasion State president Ashok Khajuria targeted PDP and NC for favouring demilitarization, self rule, withdrawal of AFSPA and joint currency while , the NC has been repeatedly advocating autonomy and pre-1953 position respectively. Khajuria however said unfortunately the Congress never opposes any of these demands, but indirectly endorses them. ‘It is only the BJP which has been fighting for the cause of the nationalist forces and working to strengthen them in the state. Ours is not only a political party but a mission to ensure full integration of the state with the rest of the country and defeating the nefarious designs of the anti-national elements, he said. Recalling the contribution of Dr Shayama Prasad Mukharjee he said Dr Sahib has given a new direction to national and state politics.
Exhorting people to join the party through this initiative he said the party registered one lakh people as members in 2006 and now we have a target of two lakh within next two months.
Dr Nirmal Singh, in his address reminded the people of the splendid contribution of the erstwhile Praja Parishad, Jana Sangha and now the BJP for standing like a rock whenever any force posed threat to the survival of the nation loving people in the state. He said Jammu & Kashmir is the crown of India and we all should work to strengthen the hands of patriotic forces in the state.
