| APMCC flays government for discrimination against KPs | | | EARLY TIMES REPORTER JAMMU |JULY 16 All Parties Migrant Committee has condemned Govt. for its discriminating attitude towards K.P community. The issue of discrimination & govts. Stand on PoK was discussed in an executive council meeting of APMCC, held under the chairmanship of Vinod Pandit. In the meeting they took in view the governments prejudiced attitude to put hurdles for Kahmiri Pandits to pay obeisance at Mata Sharda Shrine, Situated at Pak Occupied Kahmir (POK). They reminded that it was govt. who asked us to submit list of devotees willing to pay obeisance at the said Shrine. But, terming it unfortunate, a letter from Relief Commissioners office vide no:- RCM/POK/801 dtd.21-06-06, shelved the whole process. In the letter decision of govt. was described, directing those K.P’s having valid passport to contact Pakistan High Commission for visa. The members of the committee felt it very strange on account of govt’s apathy because on one side when borders are being made porous, interaction between people from this side of Kashmir and that side & vice versa in encouraged; how Pandits are being harassed unnecessarily on one account or the other. By asking K.P devotees to seek visa from Pakistan’s High Commission on valid Passport means that govt. has surrendered POK to Pakistan. APMCC wants clarification from the govt. on this account. It also denmanded that clear cut policy regarding Kahmir & Kashmiri Pandits be established otherwise this community is heading towards its extinction day by day and both J&K govt., & central govt. will be held responsible for the same.
