| Polythene manufacturers meet Industries Minister | | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 7: A deputation of polythene manufacturers and industrialists of Jammu today called on the minister for industries, Surjeet Singh Salathia and apprised him of their miserable plight as a result of abrupt blanket ban imposed by the government on sale, storage, transportation and use of polythene carry bags all over the state. They said the arbitary action of the government had rendered about 20,000 people engaged in manufacture and trade of polythene carry bags, jobless. The deputation which comprised of Rajesh Gupta president, Rakesh Gupta, Pawan Shastri, L S Puri, Vijay Sharma, Brijmohan members of polythene manufacturers association and Sudhir Kapoor a former president of association of industries urged the minister to intervene in the matter and take up with the government their miserable plight as a result of abrupt ban, rendering all of them jobless and without any source of earning. They demanded a package of relief and rehabilitation from the government for the period their units stand closed and the workers rendered jobless. As per press release minister assured them of taking up the matter with the chief minister and even raised the issue in the cabinet meeting, to find a via media to redress their grievances.
