| Narrow escape for Kaku XI on way to final | | Satish Sharma Memorial District Cricket Tournament | | EARLY TIMES REPORT KATHUA, July 08: Kaku XI Hiranagar today made it to the final of Satish Sharma Memorial District Cricket Tournament beating Sumit Ghost Riders (SGR) Hiranagar by one wicket in a close semi-final played at Sports Stadium, Hiranagar here. Earlier, batting first, after winning the toss, SGS bowled out for just 93 runs in 22 overs of the 35 overs semifinal. In reply, Kaku XI chased the total with one wicket in hand. Rohit was top scorer from SGR XI with 37 runs including five boundaries while Rahil contributed 11 runs. Virender was most successful bowler from Kaku XI with four for 13 in three overs. Babbu and Vaid shared two wickets each. Batting second, Kaku XI had tough time to overhaul the small target and had just one wicket in hand when the winning run came. Ajay Manhas made 24-ball 21 runs while Vaid and Virender contributed 16 and 14 runs respectively. From SGR XI, Rinku clinched three wickets for 18 runs in six overs. Radheshyam and Rahil also bowled well taking away two wickets each. Today’s semi-final was officiated by Rajesh Kumar Sharma and Vinod Kumar as umpires. Abhishek Badyal and Vikas Khajuria were scorers. NEXT MATCH: Kathua Blues shall take on JPCC in the second semi-final tomorrow.
