| Patwari booked for graft | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, JULY 8: Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu Mr. BL Bhat today framed corruption charges against Shahnaz Ahmed Sambyal then Patwari Halqa Shiba Tehsil Jammu who was caught red-handed by the VOJ team on July 21, 2008.
According to the CPO Vigilance Mr. Purshtom Sharma appearing for the VOJ that complainant Sunny Sharma intended to obtain bank loan for expansion of his business. He approached the bank authorities who demanded documents related to landed property as surety against the loan. The complainant approached then Patwari Halqa Shiba for providing the record of land. He had already obtained direction from Tehsildar Jammu on an application which had been endorsed to Patwari. Allegedly complainant handed over the application to Patwari at Nagrota but the Patwari accused demanded an amount of Rs 5000 as bribe for providing the said Fard and directed the complainant to pay the amount at his residence on July 21, 2008. The complainant approached VOJ with a complaint; the case registered and trap party constituted for a laid the trap. The VOJ team laid the trap and caught red-handed accused Patwari while accepting bribe money.
Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu Mr. BL Bhat after hearing CPO Purshtom Sharma appearing for the VOJ and Adv SD Sharma appearing for the accused on the framing of charges against the accused, Court framed the charges against the accused Shahnaz Ahmed Sambyal then Patwari Halqa Shiba u/s 5(2) PC Act 2006 and section 161 RPC.
