Chaman asks Govt. to address power, water issues
7/9/2009 11:14:36 PM

EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, JULY 9: Leader BJP Legislators Party, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta asked government to take immediate note of the grave situation arising out of the monsoon being elusive and numerous problems coming up especially those of great scarcity of drinking water, the erratic supply of electricity, the prices of essential commodities sky-rocketing and there being all round discontentment for chaotic functioning of the administration.
Addressing a meeting of the party activists at Janipura in Jammu West Assembly Constituency, Prof. Gupta regretted that there appears little semblance of the government though this coalition in Jammu and Kashmir has come to be in power for the past over six months now. During all these months the ruling leaders especially those of the National Conference (NC) seem to be having a sole worry that how the forces fighting the cross border terror should be removed and their powers withdrawn, which is specifically the agenda of the separatists and semi-secessionists. But their rat race with the controversial opposition viz the PDP, has encouraged the anti-national elements to exploit the people in certain parts of the troubled Valley to create conditions like that of 1989, when at tat time too, there was the Coalition of the National Conference and Congress, he added. At the meeting the activists listed the problems facing the people especially that of drinking water, scheduled and unscheduled cuts in the supply of electricity and essential commodities being scarce leading to sharp rise in prices. They also referred to the sad plight of the developmental activities for the past over six years and growing discontentment amongst the people on various accounts. This situation, he said, suits to the ruling leaders of Kashmir to indulge in black-mailing and getting more and more funds and concessions, he added.
