| Speaker chairs joint meeting of House, Privilege Committees | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, JULY 09 – Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir, Legislative Assembly, Mr. Mohammad Akbar Lone today convened a joint meeting of the House Committee and the Committee on Privileges at the new Assembly Complex to discuss important issues related with the privileges, immunities, residential accommodation, transport, security and other facilities of the legislators.
Legislators Mr. Mubarak Gul, Mr. Qamar Ali Akhoon, Mr. Abdul Majid Wani, Mr. Shabir Ahmad Khan, Hakeem Mohammad Yasin, Mr. Nizam-ud-Din Bhat, Mr. Mohammad Ashraf Ganai, Mr. Basharat Bukhari, Mr. Sham Lal Choudhery, Peer Afaq Ahmad, Mr. Durga Dass and Mr. Tsetan Namgyal demanded for involvement of law makers in ensuring implementing of the developmental and welfare schemes so that the benefits of the schemes reach to the grass root level.
Threadbare discussions were also held with regard to issues like single line administration, protocol and security facilities for legislators.
Addressing the meeting, the Speaker stressed upon the administration to ensure involvement of the legislators in the implementation of development and welfare schemes. He urged for close repo between the administration and the legislators. Mr. Lone asked the concerned authorities to issue appropriate direction in this regard.
Chief Secretary, Mr. S. S. Kapur and Director General of Police, Mr. Kuldeep Khoda who were present in the meeting responded to the various issues raised by the legislators during the meeting and assured the legislators that every possible step would be taken by the executive to address the demands of the members. Mr. Kapur informed the meeting that instructions have been issued one month earlier to all the departments before the ensuing Assembly to ensure reply of the questions in effective manner.
