Streamlining transport system in Doda finalized

EARLY TIME REPORT
JAMMU, JULY 10: On the instruction of Chief Minister District Development Commissioner, Doda, Syed Sharief-ud-Din convened a meeting to streamline the transport facility in the Doda district here today. During the meeting, measures to avoid overloading and overcharging as well as ensuring transport service on every motorable road of the district as discussed. Rationalized of routes and vehicles besides regulating their timing depending upon the frequency of passengers and condition of road was deliberated threadbare. Rationalized of 131 mini buses (matadors), 12 private buses and 7 SRTC buses was done in the meeting.
For strict enforcement of the rationalized route schedule in the district, an action plan for enforcement agencies was formulated in the meeting in which ARTO Doda, officers of Traffic Police and local Police and as well operators shall ensure that all the buses/mini-buses ply on the said route strictly according to the fixed time table. It was decided the violators of the laid guidelines will be booked under Rules and three consecutive violations would leads to cancellation of vehicle permit and driving license of the driver, respectively.
It was also decided rooftop loading in passenger vehicles shall be avoided and in case any such violation is noticed the material loaded shall be downloaded on the spot at the risk/cost of its owner/driver and such drivers shall be dealt with strictly under law. The other decisions which were taken in the meeting included de-boarding of overloaded passengers on the spot at the cost of their own. To keep check on prescribed speed limit, smoking, use of mobile phone, playing of tape recorder and radios have been prohibited in passenger vehicles. No additional seat will be allowed against approved seat capacity of the vehicle. It was further agreed that passenger vehicles found using kerosene oil instead of diesel shall be seized and every driver shall possess a valid pollution certificate with him in the vehicle and shall display it on demand of the checking officer. The DDC asked concerned operators and drivers to strictly follow these guidelines to ensure smooth and safe journey of the passengers of the district. He washed that in case of any violation, strict action will be taken under law.
