| Students who stepped out of J&K for first time meet Patil | | | New Delhi, July 10: Out of their state for the first time, a group of 47 students from Jammu and Kashmir on Friday met President Pratibha Patil and described to her their maiden experiences of visiting various parts of the country. Hailing from Kalambad village of Kupwara, the students told the President about their recent visit to Amritsar where they paid homage at the Jallianwala Bagh memorial and visited the Golden temple, a Rashtrapati Bhavan spokesperson said. The President urged the students to explore the country further and build a bond with each other. "The unity of the nations shall be further strengthened if our people interact with one another and groups of young citizens move around to meet each other so that understanding is increased," Patil was quoted as saying in a statement. The children were brought here under 'Operation Sadbhavana', an initiative by the Army in which students from border areas get a chance to interact with people across the country and also visit important places.
