| Jammu gets first swine flu suspect, but all drugs are away in Srinagar | | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 10: While authentic test results are still awaited, the fear of swine fly has finally arrived in Jammu as first ever suspected case in the state has been quarantined for treatment at the Government Medical College here. Serious lapses of the state government in handling this nationwide health epidemic in Jammu came to the fore with detection of first suspect when it was found that not even a single dose of drugs or precautionary accessories like masks etc were found in the Government Medical College. All drugs and masks obtained from the Central Government had been dispatched to Srinagar despite the fact that Jammu received thousands of pilgrims everyday and runs through maximum vulnerability. Officials at the GMC said that a 13-year-old girl, who landed here along with family after travelling to various South- East Asian countries, was admitted to the hospital with suspected symptoms of swine flu today. The teenager is undergoing treatment at GMC Hospital, where she is quarantined, GMC Deputy Superintendent said. After screening on arrival at Jammu Airport, doctors referred her to GMC. He said she had been to various South East Asian countries with her family. The GMC official told Early Times that blood samples for test have been sent to Delhi for testing and condition can be confirmed only after receiving laboratory reports.
