| BSF gets first cadre officer at top post | | | Agencies New Delhi, July 10: The BSF on Friday got its first additional director general from its cadre ranks, a post till now held by IPS officers. Naresh Gaur, who joined the Border Security Force (BSF) 40 years ago in 1969, was till now the Inspector General (IG) after serving the force in various posts before being appointed as the ADG on Friday. Gaur will be the second in hierarchy, in the more than 1.5 lakh border force, after the director general, a post essentially held by an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer till now. Hailing it as a "defining move", a cadre officer of the CISF said the latest appointment will open avenues for other cadre level officers to rise to the top echelons and lead their men from the front. Prior to this, paramilitary and Central Police Organisations (CPOs) only had the top post of an IG available for it's cadre officers to assume.
