Early Times Report Jammu, July 11 Glowing tributes were paid to Late Begum Akbar Jhan commenly know as Maderi-Meharban on her 9th death anniversary by National Conference workers and leaders at Sher-i-Kashmir Bhawan here today. Provincial president women cell of the party Vijay Laxmi Dutta while paying tributes paid Begum Sahiba was a dynamic and courageous lady and worked with later Sher-i-Kashmir with dedication even when late Sharma Kashmir was arrested. She was a champion for the cause of weaker & down trodden section of the society particularly Gujjar, Bakerwals and SC people in the State. Dutta called up on the women talk to work untidily to strengthen the party and its leadership as shown by the Mader-i-Meharban during her life time. Sheikh Bashir Ahmad, Ex. MLA and senior leader of National Conference while paying tributes to Mader-i-Meharban said that history of J&K shall remain incomplete without mentioning Mader-i-Meharban. She played a historical role in Quite Kashmir Movement in 1946 and also in 1947 when the State was under the grip of Tribal raid. Quran Khani was also performed at Sher-i-Kashmir Bhawan, Jammu in which children took part as part of programme. Those who were present on this occasion and paid tributes to her were Mirza Abdul Rashid, Satpal Lakhotra, Zubeda Salaria, Rajesh Bakshi, Chander Mohan Sharma, Yougal Mahajan, G.S.
