| College teachers demand implementation of 6th pay commission | | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 11: To take stock of the situation arising due to non-implementation of UGC 6th pay commission in favour of college teachers of J&K were discussed in a meeting of college teachers association presided over by Dr. Sanjay Verma here today. As per press release association has strongly resented the step motherly treatment of state govt. towards the college teachers. The scheme of revision of pay of teachers issued by the minister of human resource department (MHRD) vide order No. 1-32/2006-U,11/ dated 31 Dec., 2008 is meant for both teachers of universities and colleges, but the govt. has implemented the 6th pay commission only for the university teachers. Members were highly critical of the Govt’s delaying attitude for implementation of UGC 6th pay commission in favour of college teachers of J&K. It was unanimously decided by the association that they would not hesitate to go on strike if the govt. will not implement the 6th pay commission in favour of the College teachers immediately. The association has appealed to chief minister to intervene personally into the genuine demand and the simmering discontent of the college teachers and take necessary steps for implementation of the UGC 6th pay commission. The meeting was attended by Dr. Sunil Gupta, Dr. Anil Ganjoo, Prof. Narayan Dutt, Dr. Satinder Kour, Prof. Sudhanshu Sharma, Prof. Vishal Sharma, Prof. Hans Raj, Prof. Rajesh Gupta, Prof. Sangeeta Sudan, Prof. Sandhya Bhardwaj, Dr. Ravender Tickoo, Dr. Raj Singh Narayania and Dr. Vijay Bhat.
