| ESI hub of corruption, mismanagement | | | ARUN TRISAL KATHUA, JULY 11: The working employees of private companies during the hard times usually eye upon Employees State Insurance (ESI). But as the performance of the department it seems that this scheme is not being properly implemented for the needy employees who seek financial help at the crucial times. Employees have to go from pillar to post till he is given his hard earned monet that too after paying the bribe and hardly there would be a single person who has not been bribed. District Kathua due to the lack of administrative checks and huge corrupt majors adopted by the department simply to harass the effected people who have got injured, disable due to the mismanagement of the industrial unit where they are working for which they are entitled to get the benefits of ESI, are not being provided in the time of need. Vijay Kumar, Shasi Dhar Pathak, Basu Majie, Shive, Rani, Rashi Kumar, Mesh Babu and other several needy people are the example of worst hit attitude adopted by the department. As they have submitted all the formalities for release of their ESI benefits but have not been paid so for which needs to be investigated by the competent authority and seek justification from the concerned for negligence and delay. There are number of factories where only a small number of people can get there ESI who bare the pet persons of the management but rest are left away from the facilities. The ESI scheme is a unique multidimensional self financing social security scheme in which every contributor is a benefactor and a beneficiary. This integrated scheme of health insurance provides comprehensive medical cover and cash benefits in the contingencies of sickness, maternity, disablement and death due to employment injury to the insured persons and their dependants. Employees, employers, state government and the corporation are the major stake holders in the system of organized and coordinated effort providing social protection to benefactors. The role of employers, in particular remains pivotal to the success of the scheme, be it surveys for coverage implementation, registration of factories/ establishments, registration of employees, regular payment of contribution, facilitating inspection and timely action to ensure steady flow of benefits to the employees. Benefits under ESI scheme include Medical Benefit, Sickness Benefit, Maternity Benefit, Disablement Benefit, Dependant Benefit and Funeral Benefit. .
