| Retire voluntarily or get fired : Taj tells over-aged employees | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, July 11 : Threatening to put them before the Medical Board, Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Public Health Engineering, Irrigation and Flood Control, Taj Mohi-ud-Din has asked those field employees who have reportedly attained the age of superannuation but are still working in these departments to voluntarily apply for retirement. ''We will put you before the Board to ascertain your actual age,'' he said after reports that hundreds of employees are working in these departments even after crossing the retirement age. The Minister has said people found guilty, all the benefits and pay received by them for those years would be recovered. The minister assured of full pensionery benefits to those employees who volunteer themselves. Mr Taj was addressing the district administration Baramulla, at Chandanwari, Uri, about 100 km from here during a meeting of District Officers convened by him to take stock of the development works under execution in the district in various sectors yesterday. He also took review of the achievements registered under various welfare sectors. It was given in the meeting that out of 30 filtration plants which were under execution in the district, 13 stand completed besides, out of 91 service reservoirs, 75 have been completed and 49 already stand commissioned while the rest of the filtration plants and service reservoirs are expected to be completed during current fiscal year. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister emphasized upon the officers to redouble their efforts and complete all the under execution schemes within the stipulated time so that potable water is provided in the targeted areas. He directed the ICDS and Social Welfare departments to conduct a fresh survey of the beneficiaries covered under various welfare programmes so that deserving people receive the benefits of the welfare programmes. The Minister stressed upon the functionaries to work with dedication and work for implementing the welfare programmes. He said problems faced by the people need to be addressed on priority and steer the state towards the path of progress and development.
