| Mankotia distributed cheques under NFBS | | |

UDHAMPUR, July-11: Balwant Singh Mankotia State President Youth JKNPP & MLA Udhampur, distributed cheques worth Rs.1.80 lacs among 18 widows of block Udhampur and Panchari who had lost their bread earners, under National Family Benefit Scheme (NFBS) at a simple function, held here, today. Tehsil Social Welfare Officer, Udhampur, widows and people in large number were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the MLA said that there were number of schemes of Social Welfare Department for the up-liftment of poor & needy peoples but due to lack of awareness they are not getting 100% benefit from these central sponsors schemes. He called upon the people to come forward and take maximum benefits out of these schemes to ameliorate their lot. He also urged upon the officers of the department to visit every nook and corner of the district and make the people aware about these schemes so that the people especially living in remote areas could be motivated to derive maximum advantage. Mankotia further said that about 54 cases of Rs. 5.40 lacs are sanctioned in the current year under (NFBS) out of which funds of 36 cases has already been distributed among the widows.
On the occasion, the officers of Social Welfare Department also had an interactive session with the public about various State and Centrally sponsored schemes of Social Welfare Department like National Old Age Pension (NOAP), National Family Benefit Schemes (NFBS), Apni Beti Apna Dhan Scheme, scholarships for students belonging to poor and weaker sections besides schemes for handicapped etc.
