| CEO ERA for time bound completion of road projects | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT UDHAMPUR, JULY 12 (INFO)-To take stock of progress of road projects being constructed by Economy Reconstruction Agency (ERA) being funded by Asian Development Bank (ADB) in district Udhampur, the Financial Commissioner Planning, Mr. S.L Bhat, who is also the Chief Executive Officer, ERA, visited Udhampur, last evening. Mr. Bhat accompanied by Team Leader, Inter-Continental Consultants and Technocrats Private Limited, New Delhi, Col. H. S. Cheema, District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Mr. Ajay Khajuria and Chief Engineer, ERA, Vinod Sharma, inspected 27.38 KM Udhampur-Ramnagar road being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs.37.48 Crores. The Executive Officer, ERA also visited Chenani to inspect physical status of improvement and upgradation work of 32 km Chenai-Sudhmahadev-Maantalai road being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs.23.75 Crores. Mr. Bhat also convened meeting with officers of departments associated with these road projects and issues pertaining to BSNL and PHE departments regarding shifting of cables and water pipelines were discussed for expediting the works. Engineers and Consultants were directed to sort out the issues pertaining to the estimates submitted by PHE and BSNL and directed to make 75 percent payment in advance to them, immediately. Issuing instructions to the engineers, the CEO ERA said that revised estimates for the construction of two bridges at Kuh Nallah and Kaghote being constructed by J&K Project Construction Corporation (JKPCC) may be examined and finalized at the earliest. Expressing satisfaction over the pace of progress of Chenani-Sudhmahadev road, the CEO, ERA directed the Consultants and Engineers of ERA to ensure that the work is completed by December, 2009 positively beyond which no extension would be allowed. Mr. Bhat asked the DDC, Udhampur to intervene in sorting out the bottlenecks brought to his notice by the local inhabitants regarding the 100 meter road stretch within Chenani township so that their problems could be addressed at the earliest, besides ensuring smooth conduct of improvement work of road within the township. The DDC, while briefing about the present status of these road projects and other related problems, apprised that inorder to coordinate the work of various agencies connected with these road projects and ensure speedy progress, the meeting of officers, engineers and concerned departments is being convened on weekly basis to review progress of work on these two ADB funded road projects.
