| Banning of inter-district recruitment condemned | | | EARLY TIMES REPORTER JAMMU, JULY 12: All India Confederation of SC/ST organizations have strongly condemned the government decision for banning inter-district recruitment. Talking to media persons here today, Kalsotra president of the confederation said that the unconstitutional recommendations of the sub committee to ban inter-district recruitment that too without adhering to the constitutional mandate of providing proportionate reservation as per population and violation in promotions by not providing seniority as per roaster prescribed was totally condemnable and against the SC/ST community. He criticized the part played by the constituents of the sub committee and representatives of MLA from Schedule Caste community. Kalsotra alleged that the attitude of Finance Minister and chairman of sub committee A. R Rather has tried to create boundary walls in the state on district level which goes on to prove his political agenda to divide the state on lowest possible levels. He also came down heavily on the incumbent government for not considering the senior most Superintending Engineers belonging to the SC category in PWD (R&B) and ST in PDD. The confederation expressed its anguish over 50% curtailment of reservation in direct recruitment for the post of Assistant Director Statistics and violation of roster point seniority by every DPC and non implementation of reservation in Banks and all other PSUs. The Confederation also took the government to task for not implementing the Mandal Commission report. The Confederation appealed to the CM Omar Abdullah to intervene into the matter immediately and review the report of the sub committee banning the inter district recruitments. The members of confederation warned for protest demonstration on 19th of July 2009 simultaneously at Jammu and Srinagar if their government failed to take initiative to review their decision on inter-district recruitment. Others who spoke in the press conference included Harbans Lal, Zabeer Ahmed, Salah Mohammed, Rohit Verma, C L Kandley and others.
