| Panel reviews progress on Mughal road project | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, JULY 13- The Departmental Related Committee of Legislative Council under the Chairmanship of MLC, Mr. Murtaza Ahmed Khan yesterday inspected the pace of under execution work on Mughal road project. The Legislators, Mr. M. Y. Taing, Mr. Jehangir Hussain Mir besides senior officers of Council Secretariat and engineers of Mughal Road Project accompanied the Chairman during his visit. The Committee took review of the pace of work on the spot and several issues related with the project were discussed with the executing agencies. On the occasion, the engineers and officers of the project apprised the committee about their problems being faced by them and demanded sanctioning of project allowance in favour of the field staff who are working under pressing conditions. The Committee listened to their problems patiently and assured them that the issue would be recommended to the concerned quarters for necessary action. The Committee was informed that out of 41 km of the road length, 5 kms were macadamized from Shopian side and the target fixed for widening of the road will be completed very soon. The Committee expressed its satisfaction over the progress of work and asked the concerned to expedite the pace of work and ensure its completion within the stipulated time. The Committee also directed the officers of State Forest Corporation (SFC) to clear the timber dumped on the roadside so that work on the project could be carried smoothly. Later, the Committee visited Ziarat Sharief of Hazrat Sheikh AhmedKarim and paid obeisance at the Ziarat.
