| KP’s observer martyr’s day as black day | | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 13: Various Kashmiri Pandits organization hold massive protest rally outside the Jammu press club to register their protest against the observance of 13th July as the martyr’s day in the state here today. Wearing black badges, holding pla-cards and raising slogans protesters were addressed by the leaders said, it was on this day and (i.e. 1931) which marks the beginning of first organized genocide of Kashmir Pandits in Kashmir. Eye witness and survivor of 1931 massacre, Radha Krishan Mattoo who was present on the occasion narrated the horror tales of this day in his village Kanikote of district Budgam. Speaking about the horrors of 1931 a well know scholar Prof R.K. Kaul on the occasion threw light on the dimensions of the first organized violence against Kashmiri Pandits by then Muslim conference of Kashmir. He said in real sense Kashmiri Pandits are victims of communal carriage as real martyrs. Dr. Agnishekhar, convenor Panun Kashmir while speaking on the occasion said that the process of genocide of the Kashmiri Pandits began in 1931 and culminated in 1990 with the mass exodus of the entire population of our community. To observe 1931 as the Martyrs Day in the state is insulting and a grave injustice to the sufferings of the Kashmiri Pandits. The apathy and the neglect of the minorities of the state has been pursued by the successive governments, he said the latest is ignoring the representatives of the Kashmiri Pandits and Sikhs in the present government. The process f ethnic cleansing of the Kashmiri Pandits in Kashmir began with the advent of Muslim rule and there is no change in that mindset even in the 21st century and added Kashmiri Pandit community cannot forget the wounds of history and it is important to put the facts in correct perspective for the future generations. Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, president Panun Kashmir speaking on the occasion said that the Kashmiri Pandit community has a bound duty to put the records straight and defy the mindset aimed at the distortion of the History of Kashmir. The present plight of Kashmiri Pandits in exile has a direct link with what happened with the community for hundreds of years in Kashmir. Panun Kashmir will make all the efforts to espouse the socio-political aspirations of the community in this context in all the available forums. The attitude of the state government towards Kashmiri Pandit community and other minorities of the state is reflective of the mindset of 1931 Muslim Conference mindset against the minorities Virender Raina of PK said Panun Kashmir will continue to guard and strengthen its ideological frontiers and would act as a bulwark against the forces of terrorism and separatism till the attainment of a separate homeland in Kashmir. The daughter of Panun Kashmir women wing also participated in the event, which include Kirti Kalla, Mohni Razdan Sneh Gauher etc. Activists of all state Kashmiri Pandits conference (ASKPC) also hold protest rally and handed over a memorandum to UNO office with the request that the same be passed on to the secretary general at New York. The memorandum demands a separate home land for Kashmiri Pandits under Indian constitution as community have suffered a lot selective killings, looting and setting KP’s houses on blaze in early 1989-90 was frequent and the government failed to protect hapless Kashmir Pandits. The protest rally was led by father of the community and president ASKPC, A.N. Vaishnavi and was accompanied by R.K. Raina, H.L. Chatta, Rakesh Tickoo, M.K. Sher, B.L. Raina, A.K. Pandita and P.L. Saraf.
