| Security upped around Baglihar | | |

Jammu, July 13: Additional paramilitary personnel were deployed and cameras installed in and around Baglihar hydro-electric power project in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir in the wake of reports of threat to it from Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT). "We have beefed up security in and around the project after revelation of LeT plan. We have also deployed some additional companies of paramilitary forces as a fool-proof security measure", a senior officer said.
He said round-the-clock patrolling has been intensified and closed circuit cameras have been installed inside the project, dam site and its power house. Two arrested LeT militants Mohmmad Shafakat and Mohmmad Adnan - residents of Chinchawali Saiwal area in Pakistan, had told the media at Shamsabari valley in Kupwara district that 15 militants were being specially trained in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) to attack Baglihar Dam.
Police is checking vehicles on the road network in and around the project including Doda road. The three 150-MW units Baglihar HEP project were commissioned by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh last year and Pakistan has continuously raised objection to the construction of the project and taken the issue to the World Bank.
