| Strike cripples life in Kashmir | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, July 13 : Life was crippled today due to general strike in the undeclared curfew free areas in Kashmir on the 78th anniversary of 1931 martyrs. A report from Baramulla said that life was paralysed in this and other major towns and tehsil headquarters in north Kashmir with shops and business establishments remaining closed and traffic off the roads. However, schools and government offices remained closed on account of government holiday today. The report said that adequate number of police personnel remained deployed in the town and outskirts. No vehicle was being allowed to leave for Srinagar as authorities had apprehension that people from this north Kashmir will join the Lal Chowk Challo march, called by the Hurriyat Conference (HC) today, it said adding some people were seen moving in the town on foot. A south Kashmir report said that authorities had imposed restriction in the Anantnag town while elsewhere people observed strike. Shops and business establishments remained closed due to restriction and strike and traffic was also off the roads. In the Srinagar outskirts, shops and business establishments also remained closed and traffic off the roads. Nobody was being allowed to enter the city by security forces because of undeclared curfew restrictions while people were moving in the outskirts on foot.
