| Ghani Malik reviews working of colleges | | |
Early Times Report SRINAGAR, JULY 14 – Minister for Higher Education, Labour and Employment Mr. Abdul Gani Malik reviewed activities of the Higher Education Department in a meeting, here today. Commissioner/Secretary, Higher & Technical Education, Special Secretary, Higher & Technical Education and Director, Colleges besides other officers were also present. During the meeting, the Minister was given a resume of the activities of the department and was apprised that the department is presently managing 72 degree colleges across the State and one Government College of Engineering and Technology at Jammu. He was also informed about the working of Universities of Jammu and Kashmir. The Minister also took stock of the working of private colleges. Malik also took a brief of the campaign initiated by the department to take appropriate action against unauthorized private colleges, which are running without permission in violation of UGC norms. The Minister exhorted upon officers to work with zeal, dedication and honesty so that no area of the State is deprived of higher education. He also directed Principals of Colleges to take full control of their institutions with full responsibility for the same. He also directed the heads of institutions to take all necessary steps for the welfare of students.
