| Jail term for stone pelting | | | Early Times Report Jammu, JULY-14: CJM Jammu Mr. YP Bourney awarded rigorous imprisonment of two years and to Romesh Singh & Ors who were facing trial from January 13, 2004 u/s 451/338. According to the prosecution case that on January 13, 2004 complainant Bodh Raj lodged a report in injured condition that on the night at about 9:00 PM he along with his family were celebrating Lohri in the compound when all the accused with common criminal intention and due to previous enmity started indiscriminate stone pelting and attacked on them. The father of complainant tried to intervene but both of them suffered grievous injuries. As a last resort complainant brought his licensed rifle and fired in air that accused fled away. On this information case was registered and after completion investigation challan was presented in the Court of law. CJM Jammu Mr. YP Bourney after hearing CPO Mr. Pawan Khajuria with PO Kuldeep Bhat appearing for the state and Adv KS Chib appeared for the accused persons observed that the considering the facts and circumstances in totality accused are sentenced to undergo RI for one year each of the offence u/s 451 and 338 RPC and also to pay fine Rs 1000/- each and clarified that both the sentences shall run concurrently. |
