| Rs. 525 cr turnover fixed for SICOP this fiscal | | |
Early Times Report SRINAGAR, JULY 14 – In a significant decision, the state government has decided to include more items manufactured locally in “reserved category” for exclusive purchase by the government departments and other autonomous organizations. This was stated by Minister for Industries and Commerce, Mr. Surjit Singh Slathia while chairing 80th Board of Directors meeting of Small Scale Industries Development Corporation Limited (SICOP), here today. Addressing the meeting, the Minister said that all the government departments and autonomous bodies shall have to purchase all items in ‘reserve category’ from the SICOP on mandatory basis, adding the bills on account of purchase of these items outside SICOP shall not be entertained in the treasuries. Mr. Slathia said that the government is proposing to approach the Centre for restoration of Industrial package to the State Industry, so that the local Industrialists are benefited and their problems redressed. For the purpose some ground work has been already initiated, he said. Managing Director, SICOP, Mr. Raman Soni informed the meeting that the Corporation has achieved a Composite Business Turnover of Rs.395.62 crore during the last fiscal with total income generation of Rs. 10.21 crore, of which the net inome has been of the order of Rs. 2.14 crore. The SICOP was poised to achieve a Record Business Turnover of Rs. 525 crore at the end of this fiscal, he added. Principal Secretary, Industries & Commerce, Mr. Anil Goswami, Director Industries and Commerce, Jammu, Sardar B. S. Dua, Director MSME, Jammu, Government of India, Sardar S. S. Dhiloon, besides representative of Finance Department and Industries Associations attended the meeting. The meeting held detailed discussions on various agenda points which included confirmation of the minutes of the previous Board meeting, constitution of Board of Directors, sale point for Polymers at Srinagar, creation of Marketing Revolving Fund and shifting of SICOP office. The meeting was informed that the work on silk/handicraft park at Zakoora is going on in full swing. The Silk Park is being developed over 109 kanals of land by involving Rs. 7.92 crore, it was given out. The meeting was further informed that SICOP is contemplating to establish a testing centre at Leh for which Rs. 15 Lakh has been earmarked. Besides, the corporation is operating two Testing Centres’ one each at Industrial Estate, Gangyal, Jammu and Industrial Estate, Zainakote, Srinagar.
