| Sakina asks officers to develop missionary zeal | | | Early Times report
SRINAGAR, JULY 15 : Minister for Social Welfare Ms. Sakina Itoo has called upon the officers of his Ministry to work with missionary spirit for the welfare of destitute and other weaker sections of the society.
This was stated by the Minister after taking a thorough review of the functioning of the Social Welfare department at a high level officers meeting here today.
Minister of State for Social Welfare, Animal Husbandry and Hospitality and Protocol, Mr. Aijaz Ahmad Khan, Commissioner/Secretary Social Welfare Mr. Pramod Jain, Director Social Welfare, Kashmir, Mr. Hilal Ahmad Parray, Director Social Welfare Jammu, Mr. Laj Ram, Managing Director, Women Development Corporation, Mrs. Waheed Soz, District officers of Social Welfare Department, District Programme Officers of Kashmir division and other senior officers of the department were present in the meeting.
Ms. Sakina Itoo said that government contemplates to take various reformative steps for socio-economic transformation of the weaker sections of the society. She directed the concerned officers that the financial aid in vogue under various central and state welfare schemes should be distributed without any delay for rehabilitation of the needy ones.
The Minister also directed for streamlining of the functioning of District and Tehsil Social Welfare Offices, she said that a fresh survey of destitute and needy persons should be made and financial assistance be provided them well in time. She instructed the concerned officers that formalities for recommending the financial assistance to needy one should be made easy and cases of deserving persons should be disposed off immediately.
Ms. Sakina said that Social Welfare department is doing a noble job by serving the poor and needy ones of the society. She instructed that financial assistance kept available by the government for the purpose should be used judiciously and warned that if any hanky-panky found would not be tolerated and guilty officers/officials would be punished.
The Minister called upon the needy people of the state to come forward and visit Social Welfare offices of their localities and take benefits of the schemes launched by the State Government for their welfare.
She also directed for providing proper nutrition to the kids at Anganwari centres set up by the government in every nook and corner of the state and directed programme officers of ICDS to ensure frequent surprise inspections for smooth and transparent functioning of these centres.
