| BJP lauds Govt's stand on ADB loan issue | | | Agencies
New Delhi, July 15: BJP has congratulated the government for taking a "firm" stand on Chinese opposition to the sanction of a loan from Asian Development Bank to India.
"China had blocked a loan from ADB to India. China insisted on the issue but India stood firm and finally with the only dissent of China everybody voted favouring India," senior party leader Arun Shourie said in the Rajya Sabha.
Participating in a discussion on the General Budget 2009-10, he said this development has been noticed all over Asia.
Shourie hoped the government will take similar clear and purposeful stand in regard to issues like Kashmir, resumption of talks with Pakistan and treaties like NPT and CTBT.
