| Acute scarcity of drinking water | | JWAM hold demonstration against PHE deptt | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 15: A massive demonstration was organized by the activists of Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) against the PHE department for their utter failure not providing drinking water to the people of Jammu city. Addressing the protestors, Sunil Dimple president JWAM said, that inspite of tall claims of PHE minister have proved hallow. He said even assurance of former chief minister with Jammu people also proved false and failed to solve these burning problems. He said half of city people are facing drinking water problem and the concerned authorities are doing nothing. He said people want water through taps not by tankers. He urged upon chief minister Omar Abdullah steps betaken on war footing to supply water from river Chenab as river Tawi is not meeting requirements of people. He warned the authorities if they fail to start Shitli plant by Its August, JWAM will be completed to start agitation. He also extended full support to the striking PHE employees and asked govt to hold talks with the striking employees and concede their demands. The prominent protestants were Rashpal Singh, Swaran Lal, Billu Pahalwan, Mohinder Kumar, Lichi, Ballu Kumar, Randhir Singh Wali, D.N. Bhat, Ramesh Chander Kohli and many others.
