| Soz launches membership drive for Panchayati Raj Sangathan | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 16: The PCC chief and former union minister Prof. Saifuddin Soz launched membership drive of all India Rajiv Gandhi Panchayati Raj Sangathan in the state at a function had at PCC headquarter here today.
Addressing the gathering Soz stressed upon the need to work for strengthening the Panchayat Raj institutions which are the basic institutions of democracy. He said that Panchayati Raj Institutions were empowered by Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi by introducing the 73rd amendment in the constitution of India. In order to ensure that the democracy peculate down to the grass root level and involvement of common people in the governance.
He exhorted the workers to work unitedly for strengthening Congress party under the dynamic leadership of Sonia Gandhi.
Among others who were present on the occasion were Dharam Pal Sharma, Amrit Malhotra, Th. Hari Singh, S. Gurmukh, Ravinder Sharma, S. Amlok Singh, Mohd Choudhary Hans Raj Bhagat and Krishan Lal Gupta.
