| Puri suggests implementation of police reform | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU JULY 16 : Convenor PUCL J&K State and Director Institute of Jammu and Kashmir Affairs Balraj Puri has stated that large scale of reshuffle within police is not enough to restore credibility and efficiency of police instead other measures viz. values to HR and PR needs to be infused within the police.
Mr Puri in his statement stated that the large scale transfers of police officers, announced by the State government are not enough to restore credibility and efficiency of the police that was badly exposed in Shopian double murder and rape case. He suggested radical measures for this purpose, including implementation of Supreme Court directive for police reforms and training of its officers in scientific investigations, value of human rights, public relations and latest methods of dealing with crowds and demonstrations, for which facilities exist in some Universities and institutions.
