| Riots of enthusiasts on streets as Bhalla, Saroori, Shabir reach town as Ministers | | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 17: It was a sea of humanity and riots of emotions on streets of Jammu as senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla along with ministerial and party colleagues Ghulam Mohammad Saroori and Shabir Ahmed Khan arrived in the town in their visit after being sworn in as Ministers last week. While MLA Gandhi Nagar Bhalla is a Cabinet Minister for Revenue, MLA Kishtwar Saroori is Minister for Road and Buildings and MLA Rajouri Shabir Ahmed Khan is Minister of State for Forest, Environment & Ecology, Transport, CA&PD and Power, Mr Shabir Ahmed Khan. Thousands of their party workers and supporters gathered to extend a rousing reception to the newly inducted Cabinet and State Ministers at Jammu Airport. They accompanied the Ministers in a procession right from Airport to Satwari Chowk amidst beating of drums and shouting of slogans praising the Congress leadership. The procession was led by people riding on elephants and horses lent grandeur to the event. The party supporters also distributed sweets among the public. They thanked the Congress High Command for inducting of Mr Bhalla into the council of Ministers. At Satwari Chowk, the Ministers garlanded the statue to Mahatma Gandhiji and paid rich tributes to the Father of Nation. They solemnly pledged to follow the foodsteps of the great leader and make service of poor their motto. Thousands of people were seen standing in queues at Satwari Chowk and the queues extended to Vikram Chowk shouting slogans in favour of Ministers and Congress High Command. Addressing the public gathering, Bhalla thanked the Congress leadership and the State PCCI for inducting him into the Council of Minister and providing him opportunity to serve the people. He said that as minister his focus will be upliftment of downtrodden and extending the schemes of state and central government to the deserving. “Development has been my priority before becoming minister and I would continue to take the state ahead in the field of development as a minister, he said. Recalling his earlier tenure as Minister of State, Bhalla said that he has always worked to ensure equitable development of all the regions of the state. He said that Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and UPA, Chairperson, Sonia Gandhi are aware of the development needs of the state and wholeheartedly support the endeavours of the government to take the State to peace and development.
