| Army holds medical camp at Dhadkai | | | Early Times Report Jammu, 18 July: Good Samaritan gesture of Indian Army once again came to fore for the residents of Dhadkai village, Gundoh Tehsil of Doda District on Saturday. Dhadkai is a unique village of Gundoh Tehsil wherein large numbers of people are born deaf and dumb and some also mentally and physically challenged people in the village. A disability assessment cum medical camp is organized by Rashtriya Rifles Battalion under the aegis of 9 Sector Rashtriya Rifles for the villagers of Dhadkai in Gundoh civil hospital on 18 & 19 July. A team of eight doctors comprising of medical and ENT specialists headed by Dr Sushil Razdan attended to the people wherein free medical treatment is being provided. Blood and soil samples were also collected for further analysis to ascertain reasons for this medical mystery. Incidentally, it was the Army which provided meaningful assistance to the villagers of this cursed village for the first time. Case was taken up by Counter Insurgency Force (Delta) resulting in the visit of this village by members of Ali Yavar Jang Institute for hearing handicapped, Mumbai a prominent NGO, wherein disability assessment camp was organized and blood samples tested. Subsequently, a medical team visited the village on 13 Aug 06 wherein free treatment was provided to the people of the village. A number of medical camps were organized by the Army thereafter for the benefit of the villagers.
