Academy felicitates five personalities

SRINAGAR 18 July: Five legends of Valley were honored in an extraordinary programme being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages at Lal Mandi this afternoon.
Historian Prof Fida Mohammad Hassnain, Eminent Theatrest and Film Maker Pran Kishore, Famous Singer and Padama awardee Raj Begum, Sahitey Akademy awardee Kashmiri Writer Gh Nabi Aatish and Young Musician and SNA awardee Shabir Ahmed Saznawaz.
Eminent Writer Ghulam Nabi Gowhar, Gh. Nabi Khayal, Zaffar Iqbal Secretary Academy were in the presidium. A galaxy of Writer Poets Artists was present on the occasion. Khursheed Ahmed Ganai , Pricipal Secretary to Chief Minister in his massage stated that I personally admit that the work done by the awardess is of immense value and needs immediate recognition. He added that I vividly recall the melodious voice of Raja Begum and histrionics of Fida Mohammad Hussnain. He also recalled the contributions of Pran Kishore for film and theatre, Gh. Nabi Aatish for Kashmiri literature and Saznawaz for traditional music of Kashmir. He also regrets his absence. As per earlier schedule he has to preside this award function. Gh. Nabi Gowhar who presided over the programme in his address highlighted the contributions of all the five dignitaries honoured by the Academy in today’s function. He added that the outstanding work of our people needs encouragement at National and International level.
Kashmiri Writer Ghulam Nabi Khyal in his address stated that there is an urgent need to recognize the work done our people in the field of Art, Culture and Languages and organize such type of programme of felicitation in each nook and corner of the State. He appreciated the Academy for holding of such a well organized function in the heart of the city. Earlier welcoming the guests Zaffar Iqbal Manhas, Secretary Cultural Academy stated that we feel honoured that five famous personalities of the State are here, on Academy’s invitation. He said during past one year the Academy has organised Multi dimensional Activates and the spirit is continuing added that today’s programme is a step forward in this direction. Zaffar urged the upcoming and young writers of the state to come forward and take benefits of various schemes run by Academy to uplift the Cultural scene of Jammu and Kashmir.
