| Mir Lasjan stresses unity among Congress ranks | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Srinagar, July 18 : Expressing need to have unity among the coalition partners and organizations, General Secretary Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) and member AICC Ghulam Nabi Mir (Lasjan) has said that every mainstream political party in the state have a vital role in bringing peace and development to Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing a party level meeting, here today, the PCC general secretary said that Congress led government in 2005 had started a Golden Period of peace, prosperity and development and major breakthrough were made towards the agenda of achieving Khushal Kashmir.
“We need to have complete unity among the party folds and at the coalition level so as to carry forward this agenda and to achieve the goal”, he said adding, strong organistional set up among the coalition constituents will lead to a strong government which inturn will strengthen the democratic setup.
“No government can achieve its goals and meet the aspirations of the people without unity in its folds”, he said adding, “It is the need of the hour that we shall unite and join hands for building a developed and peaceful Jammu and Kashmir”.
The opposition parties in the state have a vital role in the process of governance, he said adding, a strong and responsible opposition is the backbone of democratic setup.
He said that Congress party at the state and national level is committed for the development and prosperity of the state. He urged the party leaders and workers to shun their difference and strengthen the party at the gross root level. He said that it was obligatory upon the party cadres to strengthen the hands of prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh and AICC president Sonnia Gandhi so as to implement pro-people policies in the state and across the nation.
