| Panun Kashmir to launch global membership drive | | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 18: The Panun Kashmir expresses serious concern over the callousness of the present government towards the Kashmiri Pandit youth in exile. Ever since the exodus of the community due to ethnic cleansing, the Kashmiri Pandits have been ignored so far as the employment of its youth is concerned. The continued apathy and neglect of the community youth is reflective of an unabated policy of administrative apartheid by successive governments. The prime minister of India, consequent upon presentations made by the Panun Kashmir in the round table conference, announced a special employment package for the community youth. However, no action on the ground was initiated by the state government. We demand that this PM’s special employment package be implemented forthwith ‘without any preconditions’ with age’ relaxations. Agnishekar, convenor, Panun Kashmir, addressing the media persons said it is now over two years that there has been no enhancement in the amount paid to the relief holders. Keeping in view the steep rise in the present price index, we demand that the amount of relief per person be raised to a minimum of Rupees 2500. The amount of relief may also be linked with the cost of price index and accordingly reviewed after every six months.
