| Chib reads pulse, offers hopes to private technical institutions | | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 18: Congress leader Rajinder Singh Chib’s portfolio of Technical Education is slightly unmatchable with his political profile, acumen and experience. Since it is always for the Minister to bring grace to his assignment and Chib seems to have read the task well. Chib, who is also holds the charge of Medical Education, has become a Minister for Technical Education at a time when this form of education in the private sector is running through crises. Days before Chib’s swearing in, the Department of Higher and Technical Education put on notice hundreds of private technical institutions imparting training to thousands of youths. The buck does not stop here. Career of those who obtained education from such institutions and got employment in various government concerns is also at stake. Taking a bold and strong initiative in favour of estimated 30,000 students who are getting courses in different study centers, most of them running in Jammu, Chib said that he will not allow the closure of these study centers on whims and fancies. He made this promising statement at a felicitation function organized by chamber of commerce and industry to honour him and his Cabinet colleague Revenue Minister Raman Bhalla. Early Times in its Saturday issue had taken strongly taken the cause of students undergoing education in private institutions. He further said that there are 30 polytechnique colleges and 40 ITI institutes running in the state but lack modern syllabus and concept. The industry needs people who are well acquainted with modern technique and expertise in technical hand and added that these study centres are providing modern education to the students. No doubt, these study centres are affiliated or recognized with universities like PTU, Sikkim Manipal University and others. The recent order of state govt on banning these centres will be looked into and already have consulted with the concerned minister on this issue. We have to safeguard the future of these students who are either in 3rd yr, 2nd year, 1st year etc. Regarding sports, he said, the state needs a good indoor stadium with modern facilities, besides parks, flyovers, parking places and others. He assured that more ventilators will be acquired for different associated hospitals including SMGS and medical college. Proper health care will be provided to the people. Commenting on medical college’s conference room, he said, 18 years ago, there is no change in that conference hall. Raman Bhalla, cabinet minister for revenue and relief, assured of development in the city and Gandhi Nagar constituency in particular. Jammu city will look beautiful in the coming time and promised of decongestion of traffic on roads. New flyovers at Kunjwani, Rehari, Bikram Chowk will be constructed soon and already black topping of different roads in Jammu have started and more work will follow after the monsoon season. Computerization of revenue records are also on priority besides new survey of forest land, encroached land and other land will be taken soon. Proper parking slots will be taken up. Drinking water facilities will be given to Transport Nagar. Earlier, Chamber of Commerce and industry president, Ram Sahai, while felicitating the newly inducted cabinet ministers from Jammu presented a memorandum to them. He hoped that the new cabinet ministers, who are young, energetic and bold will come upto the expectations of the people of the state in general and of Jammu region in particular. Dy.
