| Sangharsh Samiti wakes up to Central University issue | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jul 18 : Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti (SAYSS), a conglomerate of over 35 political, non-political and social organisations that spearheaded two-month long Amarnath land row, today warned the Jammu and Kashmir government of dire consequences if the proposed Central University is shifted to Kashmir. ''The government should not adopt a step-motherly policy towards Jammu region by once again hurting people's sentiment by shifting the Central University, proposed by the Government of India for this winter capital,'' Brigadier Suchet Singh, officiating convener SAYSS told reporters at a press conference here this morning. Mr Singh said that despite Central Government's project of setting up Central University in Jammu, the state government has decided to shift it to the Valley, which would not be accepted.''The Government intentionally want people to come on the road and agitate against discrimination with Jammu,'' Mr Singh added. He however, also appealed the political leaders and the ministers representing Jammu region in the government to raise the voice against discrimination. The Brigadier, meanwhile, said that tributes would be paid on July 23 at Brahman Sabha to those who sacrificed their lives during Jammu agitation last year. ''The family members of the martyrs will be invited and a grand function to remember their sacrifices will also be organised here on July 23,'' the SAYSS convener added.
