| Gupta reminds cops of Policing priorities | | | Early Times Report Jammu July 19: After taking over as Inspector General of Jammu Police earlier this week, Ashok Gupta today called upon his officers to initiate speedy action on complaints and remain impartial in their conduct. “While remaining cautious of the challenges of militancy, the Police force will have to concentrate on the routine policing with discipline and dedication”, he told a high level meeting of the officers, the first after taking over as IGP Jammu. He asked them to create friendly atmosphere with the people so that services are given at door steps. Gupta was speaking at a high level meeting of Jammu based Police officers here this morning. “Ensure speedy action to the public complaints and be friendly with the people”, Gupta asked officers while stressing upon them to avoid any human rights violations while handling the cases. He said police is always approached by the people for the redressal of their grievances and we all must ensure patent hearing and speedy justice to all. “Policing has to be normal and all the officers shall take care of the complaints ‘if any’ against their subordinates”, he said while stressing for corruption free policing. He said police has to be completely impartial and remain polite while dealing with the public. “Maintain restraint while dealing with any law and order situation”, he asked the officials cautioning them to remain extra vigilant and stern while dealing with criminals and anti-social elements. Gupta emphasized upon surprise checking’s and establishing special nakas for checking of vehicles and directed the concerned SHO’s to increase night patrolling to ensure no incident of any kind takes place in their jurisdictions. The Prosecution officers who were also present in the meeting have been asked to clear the all pending cases relating the crime and others within shortest period. Calling for synergizing Police-Public partnership groups and directed the territorial officers to conduct regular meetings with the general public in their area of responsibility. He stressed upon the officers and SHO’s to keep their eyes and ears open be always equipped against any threat from terrorists and other anti-social elements in view of the coming national festival i.e Independence Day.
