| Defense Secretary visits SNIC at Leh | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, 20 JULY: A Special National Integration Camp (SNIC) is in progress in Leh comprising of 170 cadets and 30 staff representing all states of the country with an aim to foster the sprit of national integration and solitarily among the participants. The camp provides an opportunity of community living and creating awareness regarding the geographic variance, confluence of the divergent, customs and traditions of the vast country. Vijay Singh, Defense Secretary, Ministry of Defense visited the camp in the evening on 19 Jul 2009. He was received by Brigadier Anil Gupta, Deputy Director, NCC Directorate J&K. He was impressed by the smartly turned out Guard of Honour. The cadets presented a scintillating cultural programme representing the cultural glimpses of all the states. The efforts put in by cadets were appreciated by all. The Defence Secretary assured that NCC can play a vital role in moulding the youth of J&K to join the main stream. He motivated all in this regard. Cadet Manini Joshi from Maharashtra directorate was thankful to the NCC fraternity in general and J&K directorate in particular for efficiently organizing the camp at such rugged terrain and in such an inhospitable weather conditions.
