| Sham inaugurates signature campaign against use of polythene | | |

JAMMU, JULY 20: The NGO “SUPPORT” has launched a signature drive on “say no to polythene bags” in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir State pollution control board which started from Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar on Monday at 11 AM.
Minister for Health Sham Lal Sharma inaugurated the signature drive which will be continued for 1 week in different parts of city including adjoining areas of Jammu like R.S Pura, Bishnah, Akhnoor and Kathua. General public took a keen interest in the campaign and actively participated by penning down their comments and supported the event a lot.
In the campaigning the NGO, SUPPORT appealed to the general public and shopkeepers in particular to shun the use of polythenes bags and made them aware about the ill effects of using polythene bags and to adopt bio degradable measures for packing and carrying purposes like paper bags, jute bags, cloth bags, starch based bags etc. The general public gave their voluntarily consent that they will avoid the use of polythene bags.
Dr. Jasbir Singh, Director Health services, Dr. Vinod Gupta, Supdt. Gandhi Nagar Hospital, Dr. T.R.Raina from blood bank SMGS Hospital Shalimar, Dr. Bela Mahajan (H.O.D Biotechnology deptt. GMC Jammu). A. K.Padha (Secretary Indian Red Cross Society , Jammu Region ,Jammu ) Navneet Kaur (Chairperson NGO SUPPORT), Ravi Kapoor ( Secretary NGO SUPPORT) , I.G Bijral (retired IGP) , Deepak Sharma , Sunit Grover, Ashutosh , Sourabh, Mohd. Rafi (Members NGO SUPPORT) and team from state pollution control board and other prominent citizens also participated and gave their valuable written comments and supported the campaign organized by NGO.
