| Shastri urges planning commission for liberal funding | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, JULY 21: President of the National Mazdoor Conference, Subash Shastri, has urged planning commission of India to approve the plan size of Rs. 6500 crores for J&K state for current financial years as proposed by the state government. As per press release a memorandum has been sent to the deputy chairman planning commission, Montek Singh Ahluwalia, urging that the plan size proposed by the state govt is quite utilization capacity of the state. He hoped that the central government would provide liberal funding to J&K as in the past, so that the govt. is able to carry forward speedily its agenda of socio economic development to ensure progress and prosperity in the state. On account of 6th Pay commission recommendations, Shastri also requested Ahluwalia for providing additional allocation of Rs. 4500 crore to J&K government to enable it to release the pay revision arrears to its employees and pensioners. He exuded confidence that the meeting between the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and the Planning Commission, Deputy Chairman tomorrow would prove fruitful and the state will get the required funds.
