| People stage protest against PHE, PDD | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 21: Hundreds of people today staged protest demonstrations and blocked road at Roop Nagar, demanding uninterrupted water and power in the area.
Reports revealed that people of Roop Nagar and its adjoining areas were facing acute shortage of water and unscheduled power curtailments from last few weeks and had informed the authorities about the matter.
As the concerned authorities failed to take any action, a large number of the people from the area assembled on Janipur-Bantalab road and staged a protest demonstration for about two hours. They were demanding uninterrupted power and water supply in the area.
Chanting slogans against the power and PHE departments, the protesters marched towards city but were stopped by police at Janipora.
“We have been facing unscheduled power cuts since last one month and one can hardly see power for one hour”, alleged Dawarka Nath of Lower Roop Nagar.
Later some of the officials visited the spot and assured the protesters of streamlining the supply of both power and water in the area.
