| Div Com reviews developmental projects in Jammu city | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, JULY 21 -To review the progress regarding the implementation of ongoing developmental projects in Jammu city, a meeting of officers from various departments was held under the chairmanship of Divisional Commissioner Jammu Mr. Pawan Kotwal here today. MLA Jammu East Constituency Mr. Ashok Khajuria was also present in the meeting.
Speaking in the meeting, the Divisional Commissioner Jammu informed MLA Jammu East in detail about ongoing development projects of NBCC, ERA, UEED and CMCRDP in Jammu city. He further informed that NBCC is executing Jammu sewerage projects under JNNURM between BC Road and Tawi. The Jammu old city is classified as Div A which is divided into four sectors, Sector-I includes Karan Nagar area, Sector-II which includes Panjtirthi, Jullaka Mohalla area, Sector –III includes Gujjar Nagar, Christian Colony area and Sector-IV comprises of Raghunath Bazar, Purani Mandi, Pacca Danga area. He also informed that NBCC has to lay 25.045 km length of Main Sewer Trunks under the main roads by February 2010 and 90 km length of lateral sewer lines in the interior roads/lanes by July, 2010.
The Divisional Commissioner asked all the concerned agencies to conduct the combined meetings of their local/grassroots level functionaries so as to ensure coordination between them for achieving better results in implementation of these projects. He asked the NBCC to display the information on the signboards regarding these projects indicating details of starts and date of completion on so that the general masses may be aware of the time required for the completion of these projects and further directed NBCC and other concerned agencies to keep the local MLAs/Corporators informed of the excavation/trunk laying works in their areas.
The Divisional Commissioner disclosed that a committee consisting of Chief Engineers, PHE, UEED, PDD, M&RE, representatives of ERA, General Manager NBCC has already been constituted to take up the issues pertaining to the realignment of the PHE pipes , shifting of the utilities etc in the execution of these projects.
Div. Com. informed the MLA that at present the roads including Residency road to Fortune Hotel via Vivekanand Chowk, Mian Deedo Chowk to Shakuntala Chowk, Parade to Rameshwar Temple(Shalamar road) and Brig. Rajinder Singh Chowk(DIET Rotary) to KC Chowk via MLA Hostel i.e four road fronts have been handed over to the NBCC for the execution of works .
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Jammu East stressed that there should be complete coordination between the agencies involved in the implementation of developmental projects and all these projects should be completed within stipulated time frame. He further stressed that there should not be any deviation from the technically approved plans by these agencies and the general public should be provided with the information about the start of work and expected date of completion of the project.
The meeting was attended by officers of the NBCC, ERA, PHE, UEED, PWD R&B and other concerned departments.
