| Crime Deptt given addl post of SP to monitor inter-district crime | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, July 21: While commenting on a news item published in a section of press regarding posting of one post of SP in Crime Branch, a police spokesman today clarified that Crime Branch in Police department has already two functioning SSPs to monitor various types of specialized crimes in the state which include fake currency, hawala transactions, cyber crime, Narcotics& Drugs, trafficking in women and children, interstate gangs indulging in dacoties, burglaries, vehicle thefts and terrorist crime etc.
In order to share the extra load in handling the specialized crime, the State crime branch has been provided one more Superintendent of Police, Mr. Zubair Ahmed to deal with detection and investigation of important cases related to interstate terrorism ,cyber crime, hawala transactions, etc requiring co-ordination with other States , as has been the practice in the past.
It may be mentioned that IGP Crime has been the nodal officer of the state for co-ordination, sharing and monitoring of information related to specialized crime including terrorist related crimes having implications in other states for more than a decade and there is nothing in providing an extra officer for speedy detection, investigation and trial of the cases of specialized nature.
