| Jora inspects developmental, Kulgam, Chawalgam parks to be picnic spots | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, JULY 21: Minister for Tourism and Culture, Nawang Rigzin Jora said that Jammu and Kashmir has vast tourism potential and State Tourism Department have initiated a vigorous campaign for identifying new tourist destinations and promote them on fast-track basis. He said that this would ultimately further employment avenues for the unemployed educated youth of the state. This was stated by the minister during his tour of Kulgam and other areas of South Kashmir. The tour was conducted by the Minister for assessing the tourism potential of the area besides to take stock of various under execution projects being executed by tourism department in South Kashmir. MLA Kulgam, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, Director Tourism Kashmir, Farooq Ahmad Shah, District Development Commissioner Kulgam, Manzoor Ahmad, Deputy Director Tourism (M&W) S. K. Saproo and other district officers of Kulgam accompanied the Minister. Minister said that Chinar park Kulgam and Chawalgam Park would be developed as picnic spots. He said for the purpose other necessary infrastructure would also be created to facilitate the tourists who are visiting Aherbal, the premier tourist destination in the area. He directed the concerned authorities to formulate a project report with in 20 days in consultations of experts so that the same would be submitted to Union Tourism Ministry for funding well in time. He said till then Rs. 8 lakh will be provided for fencing of Chinar Park Kulgam. Jora said in order to create tourism facilities in the district, the Government has submitted two projects of Rs 91 lakh for construction of Cafeteria at Nihama and development of tourist village at Bohnihama. Director Tourism Kashmir informed the Minister that development of park, viewing decks, landscaping in Kanjikular village is in progress at a cost of Rs 36 lakh. He also informed that a public convenience block at Kulgam–Aherbal road is also under execution at a cost of Rs 6 lakh.
