| Khoda ask heads of all wings to hold Police-Public durbars IGP | | | Early times report SRINAGAR, JULY 21 –All Wings of Jammu and Kashmir Police will organise police durbars to further fine tune, strengthen grievances and redressal mechanism as well as ensure maintenance of excellent rapport with the public through organising Police-Public meets. Director General of Police (DGP), Kuldeep Khoda has asked all the heads of police organisation to formulate a comprehensive programme for holding police-public meets across the State. In this connection, the Police Headquarters (PHQ) have issued instructions to the heads of all wings of the police organisation to chalk out a comprehensive calendar for organising police durbars and police-public meets across the State. DGP has said that holding of such interactions within the organisation and with the public would help in addressing the genuine grievances and problems of personnel besides further improving and strengthening the police-public relations. He said that Jammu and Kashmir Police has made a mark in protecting the life and property of the people even at the cost of their lives and it has to remain ever ready to shoulder any responsibility in the service of the people. As part of this initiative, the first maiden such police durbar was held at Armed Police Complex Zewan today, where the Inspector General of Police (Armed) (IGP), Dilbagh Singh addressed a day-long police durbar of all the four battalions located in the Complex. Addressing the durbar, Singh listen to the genuine problems of the officers and jawans with regard to welfare, medical facilities, early disposal of service cases, issues of administrative matters, providing scholarships to the wards and other various service matters. After listening to the grievances put-forth by the officers and jawans, the durbar was followed by senior officers meeting in the Complex of all the four battalions working in the complex. The IGP discussed all the issues thread bare with the concerned officers and several decisions were taken on-spot to redress the grievances of jawans. Mr. Singh impressed upon the officers to attend to the grievances of the jawans on priority and issued on-spot instructions to officers to give special attention to the problems especially with regard to welfare activities, disposal of G.P.Fund cases, medical facilities, promotion cases, leave arrangements and other service matters of the jawans. The IGP Armed highlighted the role played by armed force during past 20 years and asked the officers to keep the jawans mentally and physically fit for taking up any new assignment relating to law and order and security of the State. The Commandants and officers present in the meeting assured the IGP that they would always be ready to take up any assignment for the maintenance of peace and security in the State and while performing these duties law of the land would always be kept in mind. Mr. Singh urged the officers and jawans to strengthen the good relations with the public while performing the professional duties. He said every individual should keep in mind the sacrifices made by force during the turmoil and continue to build the image of the organisation. He said that people have expectations and aspiration from the Jammu and Kashmir Police and we should come to the expectations of the people. The Commandants and officers present in the meeting assured that they would always be ready to take up any duty in the interest of maintenance of peace and security in the State.
