| United Club lifts Udhampur cricket trophy | | Vikram, Inderjeet, Bupesh, Sunil share individual prizes | | Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, July 21: Sailing on a superb performance from Sunil Sharma and Rajeev, United Cricket Club (UCC) lifted the championship trophy beating Amateur Cricket Club (ACC) by 64 runs in the final of District Udhampur Cricket Tournament played at Sports Stadium, here. While Sunil, with his brilliant innings of 19-ball 38 runs, guided UCC to a competitive total and later Rajeev clinched two quick (two for two in two overs) wickets to halt opponent march towards victory. Earlier, batting first, after winning the toss, UCC set a big total of 229 runs for the loss of seven wickets in the allotted 35 overs, which, in reply, ACC could not chase and bowled out for 165 runs. Paramjit Singh was top scorer from UCC with 50 runs including six fours while Raman Abrol made 44 (off 47 balls, 2x4) runs. Sunil Sharma contributed 38 and Rahul made 38-ball 41 runs including five hits to the fence. From ACC, Amit Badyal bagged two wickets, followed by Harsh Sharma and Parul, who shared apiece each. Batting second, ACC could make only 165 runs when all their wickets fall for 165 runs. Balbir Singh was maximum scorer with 23-ball 28 runs including four boundaries. Munish and Pawandeep Singh contributed 24 and 22 runs respectively. Inderjeet Gupta was most successful bowler from UCC with three for 40 in seven overs while Rajeev bagged two for just two runs two overs he bowled. Sunil Sharma took one wicket. For his all round performance of quick 38 runs and one wicket, Sunil Sharma was named man of the match. The final was officiated by Rajinder Singh and Dheeraj Sharma. Interjeet Gupta was adjudged best bowler while best batman trophy went to Bupesh Singh. Vikram was declared beat all rounder of the tournament. The knock-out tournament was organised by the Udhampur District Cricket Committee under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA). In the final and prize distribution function, Chairman of JKCA, Mohd Aslam Goni was chief guest while, Deputy Inspector General of Police Udhampur-Doda Range, Gulzar Singh Slathia and JKCA working president, Ramesh Mahajan were guests of honour. Prominent among others present were Shamboo Nath Sharma, Ajay Sharma, Ashok Singh, Ravinder Singh, Rakesh Kumar, Sandeep Gupta, S K Raina, Vivek Sharma, Ram Khajuria, Sham Saroop Kalsotra and Rajan Singh.
