Militants take 45 Kishtwar youths to training camps: BJP
7/22/2009 10:35:53 PM

Early Times Report
Jammu, Jul 22 : As many as 45 youths of hilly Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir have been recently recruited by various terrorist outfits, the BJP today said, regretting the government turning a blind eye to the strengthening terrorist network in the militancy-hit Himalayan state.
''It is a matter of a great concern that 45 local youths have been recruited by various terrorist outfits in Kishtwar district,'' BJP national executive member Dr Nirmal Singh said while talking to mediapersons about his recent tour to the interiors of the remote district.
The locals, he said, have disclosed that the militancy, which was completely brought to an end by security forces, has again started showing its presence.
Disclosing a new strategy adopted by these outfits, Dr Singh said: ''Now they are recruiting and training the local youths in their camps to begin a civil war.'' After getting weapon training, the BJP leader said, these youths are retuning home. ''Their (militant youths) services would be availed by their mentors at the time of insurgency operations,'' he added.
Terming it as an alarming situation, he said, the militants’ network was also getting stronger in other militancy-ravaged districts of the state.
In his opinion, Dr Singh said, ''It seems the Government intentionally wants to create 1989-90 situation in Jammu and Kashmir.'' The decision on withdrawal of paramilitary forces from the state has made way for the National Conference-led coalition partners to surrender before the separatists, he said.
The BJP leader alleged that conspiracies were being hatched to bring down the number of members of the Village Defence Committee (VDCs) and Special Police Officers (SPOs) operating in hilly regions.
''Neither the VDC members and SPOs were being paid their remunerations timely nor were they being provided weapons for self-defence,'' Dr Singh said.
